Riding the Roman Road – 2 Aug 20

Leader: DerekS

Riders: Rowland, Simon, MikeG, John

Distance: 32miles

Description:

As its increasingly hard to find conventional rides with our usual enjoyable coffee and lunch stops, I thought we could find something different for a picnic ride. This ride features off road bridleways for half the route for the more adventurous.  We start at Babraham P&R, take the Roman Road to Linton, pick up the Harcamlow Way to Balsham, West Wickham and Willingham Green and on to Carlton for a picnic lunch by and around the Church. Return by road.
A total of ca. 30 miles, about half off road. The route is fine in the dry, if a bit bumpy in places and best suited to hybrid bikes or road bikes with >25 tyres. As this is different from our usual rides and not likely to appeal to all.
