Madingley P&R, Bourn, Bassingbourn – 15 Nov 18

Leader: Steve and Terry

Riders: Rowland, Derek, Mal, Derek, Bill, Barney, Mike; Jo and Lewis (from Bourn)

Distance: 44 miles

Terry led us an a slightly circuitous route to Bourn (avoiding the A428 to Hardwick) where Steve provided a wonderful selection of cakes with teas and coffees. We then headed off into blue skies and sunshine, which unfortunately slowly deteriorated into cloud and mist. Nearing Bassinbourn, Steve’s battery gave up, making his last mile a bit of a slog. On arriving at The Hoops, we discover that food will take a long time to be delivered, so most stick with with a Pint and a bag of crisps! Derek, Terry and Jo, meanwhile, walk to Hatties in the village, for lunch amongst Year 11 students from the school. Back in the pub, a Steamroller enthusiast was very amused by our Camrollers shirts (he liked the name for his ‘rollers group), so took a picture of Derek in his shirt to share on social media! At Meldreth, Steve, Lewis and Jo took the route to Orwell and back to Bourn, with Terry leading us again back home, via Chapel Hill.
