For those of you who were not able to ‘roll’ today you missed (to quote the SNP) a once in a generation opportunity. Bill carried in his panniers 4 bottles, yes 4 bottles of his spectacular home made elderberry wine and the wherewithal to drink it (plastics vessels). He decided to bring 4 bottles of the red! We assume the white needs an extra year laying!!!
I would say it had a fruity, spicy note, very soft and is less tannic than a Cab Sauv. Definitely hints of plum, strawberry and a trace of elderberry. It was a hit with all and a very acceptable quaff. This is what I call setting the bar high – and it wasn’t even his birthday (or was it)?
Otherwise, a few punctures (John, twice; MikeP; Anne had slow one), and some diversions due to flooded busway and roadworks.
Stops:
Coffee – Bethel Baptist Church, Swavesey
